I spoke to the people in Trenton with regards to the issues of concern due to recent changes in Jackson tax adjustment activity. There are two items that may at first appear to complicate matters.

  • One is that some people have received a tax refund as the results of the mini-reval where taxes were in effect reduced for the calendar year 2008. In this case 2008 taxes were less than 2007 and applying for this program would make you ineligible.
  • Secondly, we are in the midst of having our property taxes changed as the results of a reevaluation. Whatever the new taxes are in 2009, if the new tax is higher than what it was in 2008 this may qualify you for the program. If your 2009 taxes are less than what was paid in 2008 this would not allow you to qualify.
