| (Ballroom) Harmony Network Art as Propaganda | |
| Location: | Ballroom |
| Time: | 1pm to 3pm |
| Description: | CONFRONTING PROPAGANDA: YOUR MESSAGE MATTERS In a society where information is more available than ever, it is important for people to make accurate judgements of the information presented to them. Propagandistic messages influence our attitudes, beliefs and behavior every day. Often propaganda carries a negative connotation to spread biased or misleading information to influence people, but it can also be used effectively to relay positive messages. Art becomes propaganda when the spread of the message becomes the goal, and the work becomes a tool to achieve that goal. Arlene Smelson, certified art instructor and professional artist, will address some of the propaganda techniques - how to distinguish between harmful and beneficial propaganda and how to use propaganda to activate critical thinking. Spouses and significant others are welcome. Monday, August 18 at 1 PM Cost: $10 Charitable Contribution: $5 Location: Ballroom Facilitator: Sandra Tilis ▪ 732-792-3336 |
