What Happened 13.8 Billion Years Ago?
For over fifty years, the prevalent view has been the big bang, the beginning of space and time. In this talk, we will discuss a competing idea, the big bounce, for which there is no beginning and no end to space and time..Steinhardt is the Albert Einstein Professor in Science at Princeton University, a member of the Department of Physics and Associate Faculty in the Department of Astrophysical Science. He is also the Director of the Princeton Center for Theoretical Science. He is a theoretical physicist whose current research includes the evolution of the universe, dark matter, dark energy, condensed matter physics, geophysics, and photonics. He co-authored the popular book Endless Universe with Neil Turok, and his new book, The Second Kind of Impossiblee will appear in January.
